This fly is one of Linecasters ‘super flies’ and has caught many selective trout as well as Smallmouth Yellowish in and around the Kraai River system and its tributaries.
This fly can be fished as a single fly below a strike indicator or fished in tandem in front of a lighter smaller imitation.
Recipe
- Hook: # 14 – 12 grip hook (heavy wire)
- Bead: # 2.6 – 2.8mm gold or black bead (brass)
- Lead: 0.015mm lead wire
- Tail: 4 – 5 strands of golden pheasant tail
- Ribbing: copper wire
- Body and thorax: grey hares fur
- Legs: brown tentacles, fine rubber, 2 on each side behind thorax and two on each side behind bead
- Wing case: 4 – 6 strands of pearl crystal flash
